I used the same technique (loading ddwrt firmware on an old linksys WRT54G router) to wirelessly connect my Panasonic plasma TV and DishNetwork DVR (so I could program it remotely) to my internet gateway (also a linksys router... WRT54G2). It worked like a champ! Loading the new firmware was a 'snap' and reconfiguring it to function and a repeater... was fairly simple as well. I didn't like the option of stringing a network cable through the walls and a wireless solution was perfect.
